How to Build a Multi-Floor Elevator Shaft

Plan the column first

A multi-floor shaft is just several matching elevator blocks stacked on one X/Z coordinate. Each block links to the nearest matching block above and below, so you move one floor at a time.

1. Pick a single column position for the shaft.

2. At every floor you want a stop, place a matching elevator block at that height.

3. Keep every block in the shaft the same variant (all Quartz Elevator or all Smooth Quartz Elevator).

4. Leave the space between stops clear of solid blocks.

Using the shaft

Stand on the block at your current floor. You rise to the next stop above, or descend to the next stop below. To reach a higher floor, ride up repeatedly, stopping at each block on the way.

Tips for clean builds

  • Align the shaft with your stairwell or a dedicated lift room so players find it.
  • If you want express travel, place only two blocks — bottom and top — instead of one per floor.
  • For a hidden service lift, run a Smooth Quartz Elevator line in the same column as a public Quartz Elevator line; they will not interfere.
