Frequently asked questions

How do I start a new world with X-Life Mod?
Create a new world normally in Minecraft, and the mod will automatically apply. You'll spawn with 1 heart of maximum health regardless of difficulty setting. Your health will increase by 1 heart each time you die, up to the cap of 10 hearts.
What happens when I die at 10 hearts?
You are placed into spectator mode permanently and cannot respawn as a living player. This is the end condition for X-Life Mod—plan your gameplay accordingly and avoid risky situations once you reach maximum health.
Can I check my current maximum health?
Use the command `/gethealth [playername]` to see how many hearts a player currently has as their maximum. This works for yourself or any other player on the server.
How do I manually change a player's health?
Use `/sethealth [playername] [amount of hearts]` to set a specific player's maximum health to any value. This is useful for correcting mistakes or managing server progression.
Does my health reset if I change worlds or servers?
Health progression is tied to your player data and persists across world reloads and server restarts. However, joining a different server or world will use that world's separate player data.
Can I play on peaceful mode with this mod?
Yes, but you won't gain health from dying to mobs since mobs don't spawn on peaceful. You can only increase health by taking fall damage, drowning, or other environmental deaths.
What if I accidentally die and waste a heart increase?
Use `/sethealth [yourname] [hearts]` to restore your health level if the death was unintended. Server admins can also use this command to help players recover from unfair deaths.
Does X-Life Mod work on multiplayer servers?
Yes, each player has their own independent health progression tracked separately. Admins can monitor and adjust individual player health using the provided commands.
Can I disable spectator mode or change the maximum heart limit?
The mod's core mechanic caps health at 10 hearts and forces spectator mode on the next death—these are built-in features and cannot be adjusted through commands or config without modifying the mod itself.
Does this mod affect hunger, armor, or other survival mechanics?
X-Life Mod only changes your maximum health pool; hunger, armor, and all other survival mechanics work normally. Your actual current health still depletes the same way—only the maximum capacity increases.
