Enable Path-Tracing for Realistic Light Bouncing

Access Shader Settings

Open the shader options menu while in-game by pressing the key bound to shader settings (default varies by launcher). Look for the Path-Tracing or Ray Tracing section in the options panel.

Configure Path-Tracing Quality

Path-tracing simulates light bouncing naturally around your world. You'll find toggles to enable it and sliders to control:

  • Sample count: Higher values create cleaner, more realistic light but demand more GPU power
  • Bounce depth: Controls how many times light reflects before stopping
  • Denoise strength: Reduces graininess from lower sample counts

Start with moderate settings if your computer struggles. Reduce sample count or bounce depth first—these have the biggest performance impact.

Apply and Test

Save your changes and return to your world. Look at shadowed areas under trees or inside caves—you should see indirect light naturally filling spaces instead of uniform darkness. Water and reflective surfaces will show more complex light interactions. Adjust settings until you find the balance between visual quality and frame rate that works for your system.
