Adjust PBR Material Appearance (Metallic and Rough Surfaces)
Understand PBR in Unbound Visual
Physically Based Rendering makes materials behave realistically. Iron looks shiny and reflective, while stone appears rough and matte. The shader uses texture data to determine how each block surface responds to light.
Access Material Settings
Open shader options and locate the PBR or Material section. You may find sliders for:
- Metallic intensity: Controls how mirror-like reflective blocks appear
- Roughness adjustment: Smooths or roughens surface appearance
- Specular highlights: Adjusts bright reflections on shiny surfaces
Fine-Tune for Your Preference
Increasing metallic intensity makes gold, iron, and copper gleam more prominently. Reducing roughness makes all surfaces shinier; increasing it creates a more weathered look. Test changes by looking at metal blocks, water, and polished stone in different lighting.
If reflections feel too strong or unrealistic, dial back metallic values. If materials look too dull, increase specular highlights. Changes apply immediately in most cases.
