Tschipcraft’s More Mobs Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I actually get the custom mob heads in survival?
Custom heads are obtained the same way vanilla mob heads are — they drop from the corresponding mob when killed by a player, or via charged creeper kills for some. Once you have a head, place it on the ground and a nearby eligible mob will transform into the variant.
Do I need to install anything on my friends' clients for the mobs to show up?
No — the mod is fully server-side, so mobs transform and behave correctly for everyone on the server. Clients without the mod will just see the vanilla mob model instead of the custom head texture.
Why isn't my mob transforming when I place the head?
Make sure the head is placed as a block (not held in your hand) and that the correct mob type is nearby — each head only works on its matching entity. Also check that the mob isn't already a variant, since variants usually won't re-transform.
Which mobs can I actually convert with this mod?
Zombies, husks, drowned, skeletons, strays, wither skeletons, mooshrooms, piglins, pillagers, evokers, and vindicators all have custom head variants. Each head is tied to one specific mob, so a zombie head won't turn a skeleton.
Can I get these heads in creative mode to test them?
Yes — the custom heads are player heads, so you can grab them from the creative inventory or via the give command using the head's player name. This is the fastest way to preview variants before farming them in survival.
Do the transformed mobs drop different loot or have different behavior?
Most variants are cosmetic reskins of the base mob, keeping the same AI and drops. Some are themed around specific characters or skins, so treat them as visual variety rather than new gameplay mechanics.
Will this mod conflict with other mob or head plugins on my server?
It generally plays fine with other server-side mods, but plugins that also replace mob models or intercept head placement can clash. If mobs stop transforming, temporarily disable other head-related plugins to isolate the cause.
Does the mod hurt server performance with lots of variants?
Performance impact is minimal because variants reuse vanilla mob AI and only swap the head model. Lag usually comes from having huge numbers of mobs loaded, not from the mod itself.
Can I turn a mob back into its normal form after transforming it?
There's no built-in revert — the variant is effectively a new mob. If you want the vanilla version back, you'll need to remove the variant and spawn or breed a fresh normal mob.
Do the custom heads work on already-spawned mobs, or only new ones?
They work on mobs that are already in the world — just place the matching head near the mob and it will convert. You don't need to respawn anything, which makes it easy to redecorate existing builds.
