How to Build a Base in Terralith's Extreme Terrain
Terralith's floating islands, volcanoes, canyons, and cliffs make base building harder than in vanilla. The terrain is often steep, unstable-looking, or split by deep drops.
Choosing a Site
- Pick a location with a flat or gently sloped area for your main build, even if the surrounding scenery is dramatic. Building on a sheer cliff face wastes time on scaffolding.
- Avoid building directly on the edge of a canyon or floating island unless you plan to bridge outward. Falling is the most common way to lose progress.
- Check the biome name with F3 before committing. Some Terralith biomes have harsh conditions that affect farming or mob spawning.
Making It Safe
- Light the entire perimeter and any nearby cave entrances before you build walls. Terralith's terrain hides many spawnable pockets.
- Use fences or walls along cliff edges, and place a water bucket landing spot at the bottom of any long drop you use regularly.
- If you build on a floating island, create a marked bridge or a safe descent route first, then decorate.
A base in extreme terrain is worth it for the view, but only if you secure the edges before you start decorating.
