Terralith Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I actually find the new Terralith biomes in my world?
Just walk or fly around in newly generated chunks — Terralith biomes spawn naturally alongside vanilla ones, so no special item or command is needed. If you want to reach a specific biome fast, use the /locate biome command with the biome's ID.
Do I need to create a new world for Terralith to work?
Yes, for the new biomes to appear you need chunks that were generated with the mod active. Existing chunks you've already explored will keep their old terrain, so you'll only see Terralith biomes in areas you haven't visited yet.
Why aren't the new biomes showing up in my old world?
Terrain is generated once and saved, so already-explored chunks won't change. Travel far enough to load fresh chunks, or start a new world if you want the full Terralith experience from spawn.
Is Terralith compatible with other biome or world-gen mods?
Terralith is designed to work as a standalone overhaul and can conflict with other mods that heavily rewrite biome or terrain generation. If you stack multiple world-gen mods, expect overlapping or broken biomes, so test in a fresh world first.
Does Terralith work with datapacks and vanilla clients?
Terralith is a datapack-driven mod, so it needs to be present on the server for multiplayer. Vanilla clients can usually connect to a Terralith server, but singleplayer worlds need the mod installed locally.
Will Terralith hurt my game's performance?
Terralith mostly changes biome data rather than adding heavy new assets, so performance impact is usually small. Very tall terrain, floating islands, and dense cave systems can still strain weaker machines when generating new chunks.
How do I survive the extreme terrain like volcanoes and floating islands?
Bring plenty of blocks, a water bucket, and slow-falling potions before exploring vertical biomes. Falling is the biggest danger, so bridge carefully and avoid sprinting near cliff edges.
What are the Frostfire Caves and why do players warn about them?
Frostfire Caves are special Terralith cave biomes that mix extreme heat and cold hazards in one area. Bring both fire resistance and cold protection, plus good armor, since the environment itself can kill you.
Where do I find Fortified Villages and other Terralith structures?
Fortified Villages and other structures generate inside specific Terralith biomes rather than everywhere. Use /locate structure with the structure's ID, or explore the biome types they belong to.
Can I disable or remove Terralith later without breaking my world?
You can remove the mod, but chunks already generated with Terralith biomes may look odd or cause errors when loaded without it. Back up your world before removing it, and expect new chunks to revert to vanilla generation.
