Making Clouds and Block Entities Render Without Shading

Why clouds and block entities look different

Vanilla applies shading not only to ordinary blocks but also to clouds and to block entities — things like chests, signs, banners, and beds that are rendered as separate models rather than standard cube faces. Simply No Shading targets these too, so you should see clouds and block entity models lit evenly rather than with one dark side.

Checking it is working

1. Look up at the sky during daytime. Clouds should appear as a flat, even tone rather than having a darker underside or shaded edges.

2. Place a chest, a sign, and a banner next to each other and walk around them. Each face should read at the same brightness as you circle it.

3. If clouds still look shaded, open Options > Video Settings and make sure cloud rendering is set to the normal (not off or fast) option, since some cloud modes change how they are drawn.

4. If block entities still look shaded, confirm no resource pack is replacing their models — packs that ship custom models can carry their own lighting behaviour.

Combining with other visual mods

Mods that add custom entity rendering may not respect the no-shading behaviour. Test one mod at a time if a specific block entity still shows a dark face.
