Deep ocean variants occupy Y0–Y29, ocean variants Y30–Y60, beach Y63–Y66, and from Y67 onward biomes are split into four height-based regions (Y67–Y90, Y91–Y140, Y141–Y190, Y191–Y256) that generally get colder as height increases.
How does Simplex Terrain Generation generate terrain height?
It uses a heightmap made of simplex noise normalized to fit between 256 and 0. That heightmap is used both to place blocks and to place biomes.
Can I change the heights where biome regions start in Simplex Terrain Generation?
Yes, the config lets you change the heights at which the biome regions start.
