REI Search Bar Calculations Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I use the calculator in the REI search bar?
Just type a math expression directly into the REI search bar, like 4*16 or 128/2, and the result appears in the search results. You don't need to press any special key or open a separate window.
What math operations does the REI calculator support?
It supports the basic operations: addition (+), subtraction (-), multiplication (*), and division (/). You can chain them together in a single expression.
How do I use the /calc command?
Type /calc followed by your expression, for example /calc 64*3, and the result is shown in chat. It works exactly the same as typing the expression into the REI search bar.
What do k and m mean in the calculator?
They are metric prefixes: k means thousand and m means million. So 1k equals 1000 and 5m equals 5000000, letting you type large numbers quickly.
How do I calculate how many items are in a certain number of stacks?
Use the stack unit in your expression, for example 3 stacks, and the calculator converts it to the equivalent item count. This is handy for quickly figuring out total items when trading or crafting.
How do I convert items back into stacks?
Enter the item count and divide by the stack size, or use the stack unit in reverse within your expression. The calculator returns the number of stacks for that item amount.
What does the e shortcut do in calculations?
The letter e represents the enchanted variant of an item, so 1e means one enchanted item. You can use it in expressions to work with enchanted amounts without typing the full name.
Can I combine metric prefixes and stack units in one calculation?
Yes, you can mix them in a single expression, such as using k or m alongside stack amounts. The calculator evaluates the whole expression and gives you one result.
Why isn't my calculation showing a result in the REI search bar?
Make sure your expression only uses supported operators and units, and check for typos like a missing number or an extra symbol. If the search bar treats it as a normal item search instead, the expression likely isn't being recognized as math.
Does the calculator affect game performance or conflict with other REI addons?
The calculator runs only when you type an expression, so it has no noticeable impact during normal play. It's designed to work alongside REI, though other mods that also modify the search bar could interfere with how expressions are parsed.
