How to Power a Refined Storage Network

Understanding Energy Needs

Every Refined Storage network consumes energy (measured in Redstone Flux or the equivalent energy unit of your modpack). The Controller is the heart — it accepts power and distributes it to all connected machines. A network with no power will not let you open Grids or run Autocrafters.

Connecting a Power Source

Place your energy generator or cable from your power mod so it touches the Controller directly, or run a Cable from the Controller to your power source. Most packs use cables that carry RF or FE. Once connected, the Controller's front face glows to show it is active.

Checking Consumption

Larger networks with many machines, Autocrafters, and Interfaces draw more power. If your network keeps shutting down, add more generation or reduce the number of always-on machines. You can also place a Detector or use your power mod's energy monitor to see live draw. Keep a buffer — a small battery bank between generator and Controller smooths out spikes when Autocrafters kick in.
