How to Find a Village's Name Using the /areas Command
What /areas Does
The /areas command is your main tool for working with this mod. It scans the area around your current position and reports every area sign it finds, including the village name stored on each one. This is useful when a village is large, when the sign is hidden by terrain or builds, or when you simply can't remember which village you're standing in.
Using It Effectively
1. Stand near the center of the village you're curious about.
2. Type /areas in chat and press enter.
3. Read the output — each entry corresponds to an area sign, and the village name is shown alongside it.
4. If nothing appears, move closer to the village center or expand your search radius by walking around and running the command again.
Practical Tips
Run /areas right after entering a new village to log its name before you modify anything. If you plan to rename or remove a village, note the sign's location from the command output first so you can find it quickly. The command only reports signs near you, so it won't list every village in the world — it's a local tool, not a global registry.
