Railcraft Minecarts and Locomotives

The mod expands the variety of minecarts, turning them into specialized industrial tools. The most significant addition is the Locomotive, which acts as the engine for a train.

Locomotives

  • Steam Locomotive: The workhorse of the mod. It requires water and fuel (like Coal or Coal Coke) to generate steam. It must be warmed up before it can move, and letting it run out of water while hot can lead to a catastrophic explosion.
  • Electric Locomotive: Powered by Electric Tracks. It is cleaner and more efficient than steam but requires a powered infrastructure.
  • Locomotive Modes: Locomotives can be set to Running (active movement), Idle (maintains heat but doesn't move), or Shutdown (cools down to save fuel).

Specialized Carts

  • Tank Cart: Transports large quantities of fluids (water, lava, oil, etc.).
  • Energy Cart: Stores and transports energy (compatible with various tech mods).
  • TNT Cart: A more powerful version of the vanilla TNT cart, often used with Priming Tracks.
  • Tunnel Bore: A massive entity that automatically digs tunnels and lays track in front of itself.
  • Anchor Cart: Keeps the chunks around the cart loaded, ensuring long-distance trains continue to move when the player is away.
