Primordial Pocket Monsters Data Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Why aren't Pokémon spawning in the caves I'm exploring?
Make sure the data pack is properly loaded in your world—check your datapacks folder and confirm it appears in the `/datapack list` command. Also verify you're in the correct biome; each cave system has specific spawn tables, so Primordial Caves won't have Magnetic Cave spawns.
What's the difference between the cave biomes and which one should I explore first?
Each biome has a themed roster: Primordial Caves have fossils and starters, Magnetic Caves have steel types, Candy Cavity has food-themed Pokémon, Toxic Caves have poison types, Forlorn Hollows have ghosts, and Abyssal Chasm has water types. Start with whichever biome is closest to your base or matches the team you want to build.
How do I find legendary and paradox Pokémon?
Legendary and paradox spawns are rare encounters distributed across multiple biomes—Magnetic Caves have a higher chance for paradox types. You'll need to spend significant time exploring and battling spawns in each biome to encounter them.
Do I need to do anything with the unmodeled folder?
The unmodeled folder contains Pokémon that don't have custom models yet. When Cobblemon updates add new models, move those files out of the unmodeled folder so the Pokémon can spawn with proper visuals.
Can I use this data pack with other Cobblemon data packs?
This data pack modifies spawn tables for Alex's Caves biomes specifically, so it should work alongside most other data packs—just be aware that conflicting spawn modifications in the same biomes may cause one to override the other.
Why am I still seeing default Pokémon spawns in some caves?
Deep Chasms and Hollow biomes intentionally retain partial default spawn tables, so you'll see a mix of custom and vanilla spawns there. Other biomes should be fully replaced with themed spawns.
What's the best way to farm a specific Pokémon from one biome?
Set up a base camp near your target biome and repeatedly explore and battle spawns; you can also optimize spawning by keeping the area loaded and managing mob caps if you're familiar with spawn mechanics. Bring Poké Balls suited to the biome's conditions for better catch rates.
Does this data pack affect performance or cause lag?
The data pack only modifies spawn tables and doesn't add new blocks or entities, so performance impact should be minimal. If you experience lag in caves, it's likely due to Cobblemon's entity rendering rather than this data pack specifically.
Can I disable spawns in specific biomes I don't want to explore?
You would need to manually edit the data pack files to remove spawn entries for specific biomes, which requires understanding the data pack structure. Otherwise, all biomes will have their themed spawns active.
Are there any Pokémon that spawn in multiple cave biomes?
Some Pokémon like starters appear in Primordial Caves, and certain types may overlap between thematically similar biomes, but each biome has a distinct primary roster designed to encourage exploring all of them.
