The Catching skill path is your primary tool for improving wild encounters. Invest skill points into nodes that directly boost catch rate percentage and shiny encounter chance. These nodes compound over time, so prioritize them early if shiny hunting is your goal.

Combine Path Bonuses with Type Mastery

After unlocking core catching bonuses, select one or two creature types as your Type Mastery focus. This grants additional catch rate and shiny odds specifically for those types. Pair this with the Catching path to create a powerful synergy—for example, mastering Water types while leveling catch rate means Water-type shinies become significantly more common.

Use Lucky Catch for Ball Recovery

Unlock the Lucky Catch perk to regain Poké Balls on successful catches. This reduces resource consumption during long hunting sessions. Stack this with higher catch rates to make your hunts more efficient and sustainable.
