Primal Trainer Mastery Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start using the skill tree?
Open your skill tree with the default keybind and you'll be prompted to choose a starting branch (Catching, Training, Breeding, or Harvesting). This choice doesn't lock you out of other paths—you can unlock nodes from any branch later, but your first selection gives you an early boost in that area.
How do I earn skill points?
You gain skill points by catching wild Pokémon, winning battles against trainers, hatching eggs, and harvesting crops like berries and apricorns. The more you engage with these activities, the faster you accumulate points to spend on skill nodes.
What's the difference between type mastery and regular skill nodes?
Type mastery nodes give you specialized bonuses for up to two Pokémon types you choose, such as improved catch rates or battle performance for those specific types. Regular skill nodes provide universal bonuses like increased shiny odds or farming yields that apply to all your activities.
Can I respec my skill tree if I make a mistake?
Yes—server owners or admins can use `/cobblemonskilltree reset ` to completely reset your skill tree nodes, letting you redistribute your points. On single-player, you'll need to use this command yourself or ask your server admin.
Do the Perfect Catch and Perfect Hatch perks guarantee perfect IVs every time?
No, both perks grant a *chance* for perfect IVs on caught or hatched Pokémon, not a guarantee. The higher you invest in the Catching or Breeding paths, the better your odds become.
How does Quick Incubation work with egg hatching?
Quick Incubation reduces the remaining time needed to hatch an egg, meaning your eggs will hatch faster the more you invest in that perk. This stacks with other hatching speed bonuses from your team's friendship or held items.
Can I check my current skill bonuses in-game?
Yes, use `/cobblemonskilltree stats` to view all your active skill bonuses and see exactly what perks you've unlocked so far.
What happens if a server admin sets me to 'full' progression mode?
Full progression mode gives you access to all 240+ skill nodes immediately without needing to earn points. This is typically used for creative servers or testing—use `/cobblemonskilltree mode full` to enable it.
Does the Treasure Hunter perk guarantee rare items?
Treasure Hunter grants a *bonus chance* for rare item drops during daily gameplay activities, so it increases your odds of finding valuable items but doesn't guarantee them every time.
Can I focus on just one skill path, or should I spread my points across all four?
You can focus entirely on one path if you want—for example, pure Catching for shiny hunting or pure Breeding for competitive teams. However, spreading points across multiple paths gives you more well-rounded benefits, so your choice depends on your playstyle.
