How to Read Ping Values in the Tab List
What the Numbers Mean
Once Numeral Ping Mod is active, open the tab list (hold the default tab key). Next to every player name you will see a number instead of the usual signal-bar icon. That number is the player's round-trip latency to the server, measured in milliseconds (ms). Lower is better. A value in the low tens means a very responsive connection, values in the low hundreds are playable, and anything climbing into the high hundreds or beyond will feel laggy for that player.
Reading It at a Glance
- Compare your own number against others to judge whether lag is your problem or the server's.
- Watch the value over time rather than trusting a single reading; ping fluctuates with network load.
- A player whose number spikes repeatedly is likely on an unstable connection, not necessarily a bad player.
- If everyone's number is high at once, the server itself is struggling, not the individual clients.
Practical Uses
Use the numbers when deciding who should host, when diagnosing complaints about "lag," or when checking whether your own connection improved after a router change. Because the value is exact, you can tell a 40 ms connection from a 90 ms one, which the old bars could not show.
