Numeral Ping Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on the ping numbers in the tab list?
The mod works automatically once installed — just hold Tab and you'll see each player's ping in milliseconds next to their name. There's no keybind or toggle to enable; if numbers aren't showing, check that the mod is actually loaded for your game version.
What do the ping numbers actually mean?
The number is your round-trip latency to the server in milliseconds — how long it takes a packet to go there and back. Lower is better; a value in the low tens feels instant, while values in the hundreds or higher mean noticeable delay on actions like block breaking or combat.
Why are my ping numbers blurry or misaligned?
This is a font rendering issue, not a bug in the ping logic. The mod ships with built-in resource packs — one pixelated and one smooth — that you can enable in your resource pack list to fix the rendering.
Which font pack should I pick, pixelated or smooth?
Pick whichever matches the rest of your UI: pixelated keeps the vanilla Minecraft look, while smooth renders cleaner digits that some players find easier to read at small sizes. You can switch between them at any time without restarting.
Do other players need the mod for me to see their ping?
No. Ping is reported by the server for every player in the tab list, so you see everyone's numbers even if they don't have the mod installed. It's a client-side display change only.
Does this mod work on servers, or only in singleplayer?
It works on any multiplayer server because it just reads the ping value the server already sends. In singleplayer there's typically only you in the tab list, so there's little to display.
Will the ping numbers show on other players or just me?
They show for every player listed in the tab list, including yourself. That makes it useful for spotting which specific player is lagging on a server.
Can I use this mod with other HUD or tab list mods?
It generally coexists with other client-side mods, but mods that heavily rewrite the tab list rendering can conflict with the number placement. If numbers disappear or overlap, try disabling the other tab-modifying mod to isolate the cause.
Does the mod hurt my performance or FPS?
No — it only draws a small text value that the game already tracks, so the performance impact is negligible. Any lag you're seeing is almost certainly from the server or your connection, not this mod.
The numbers disappeared after I changed my resource packs — what happened?
A resource pack that overrides fonts can hide or break the ping digits. Re-enable one of the mod's built-in font packs and place it above conflicting packs in the resource pack order.
