Metals Ultra Resource Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

What does Metals Ultra actually change in my game?
It replaces the textures for metal blocks and ores with handcrafted PBR and POM versions, so they get realistic reflections, depth, and surface detail. It affects vanilla metals plus any modded metals the pack has support for.
Do I need shaders for Metals Ultra to work?
Yes. PBR and POM only render through a shader pack that supports them, so without shaders you'll just see flat textures. Enable a compatible shader in your shader loader's menu to see the shine and depth.
How do I know if PBR and POM are actually active?
Look at a metal block up close and move around it; with PBR and POM on you'll see reflections shift and the surface appear to have real depth. If it looks flat and matte, the shader or resource pack order is the problem.
Why do my modded metals still look vanilla?
The pack only covers modded metals it has support for, so a metal from an unsupported mod will keep its default texture. Check whether that mod's metals are in the pack's supported list before troubleshooting anything else.
My metals look flat even with shaders on — what's wrong?
This usually means the resource pack isn't at the top of your resource pack list, or your shader doesn't support PBR/POM. Reorder the pack above other packs and switch to a shader known to support these features.
Does Metals Ultra work with other resource packs?
It can, but any pack loaded above it will override its metal textures. Put Metals Ultra near the top of the list so its metals win, unless you specifically want another pack's version.
Will this pack hurt my FPS?
PBR and POM add extra rendering work, so some performance drop is normal, especially with POM enabled. If it's too heavy, lower your shader's PBR/POM settings or disable POM while keeping PBR.
Can I use PBR without POM, or POM without PBR?
Yes, these are separate shader features and can be toggled independently in most shader settings. Turning off POM keeps the reflections while removing the depth effect, which is a common way to save performance.
Which shaders support Metals Ultra's PBR and POM?
You need a shader pack that explicitly supports PBR and parallax/POM, since not all do. Check your shader's documentation or settings menu for PBR and parallax options before assuming the pack is broken.
Do I need any other mods for Metals Ultra to work?
For the textures themselves, no — it's a resource pack. But to see PBR and POM you need a shader loader and a compatible shader pack installed alongside it.
