Use the Tracking Compass as a Hunter

Obtaining and Using the Compass

Once you've joined the hunters team and the game has started, you'll receive a tracking compass. This compass is your primary tool for locating the runner(s). It functions similarly to a lodestone compass but points toward the speedrunner's current position instead of a fixed location.

Tracking Mechanics

The compass updates periodically to reflect the runner's movement. However, tracking may be limited by the minimum distance setting—if runners are closer than the configured threshold, the compass may not function or provide less precise direction.

Effective Hunting Strategy

Use the compass to narrow down the runner's general direction, but don't rely on it alone. Watch for signs of activity: broken blocks, torches, footprints in snow or sand. Coordinate with other hunters to cover multiple escape routes. The compass works across dimensions, so if a runner enters the Nether, you can still track them—though you'll need to follow through the portal yourself.
