Manhunt Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start a manhunt game?
Use `/function manhunt:start_game` to initialize a manhunt. Before starting, assign players to teams using `/team join hunters player_name` for hunters and `/team join runners player_name` for speedrunners. The runners will receive a head start (default 45 seconds) before hunters can begin tracking.
How does the tracking compass work?
Hunters receive a compass that automatically points toward the speedrunner's current location. The compass updates in real-time, but only functions within the configured minimum tracking distance—if the runner is too close, the compass won't work to prevent it from being overpowered early game.
How do I change the head start time?
Use `/scoreboard players set Temp manhunt_lead [seconds]` to adjust the delay before hunters can begin. The default is 45 seconds; set it lower for harder hunts or higher to give runners more preparation time.
What does minimum tracking distance do?
Minimum tracking distance prevents the compass from working when the runner is closer than the set range, creating a skill-based endgame where hunters must use strategy rather than pure tracking. Adjust it with `/scoreboard players set Temp manhunt_min_dst [value]`, where the value is the distance in blocks multiplied by 20.
Why isn't the compass pointing to the runner?
Check if the runner is within the minimum tracking distance—the compass won't function if they're too close. Also verify both players are on the correct teams and the game has actually started with `/function manhunt:start_game`.
Can I see the game timer and scores?
Yes, use `/scoreboard objectives setdisplay sidebar` to show the scoreboard on the right side of your screen, displaying elapsed time and team progress throughout the manhunt.
Does this mod work on multiplayer servers?
Yes, the mod is fully compatible with multiplayer servers and supports group challenges with multiple hunters pursuing one or more runners.
Can I customize the rules for different difficulty levels?
The mod includes configurable rules for head start time, tracking distance, and other mechanics, allowing you to adjust difficulty by tweaking these values to suit your group's skill level.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
No, the Manhunt Mod is designed to be lightweight and should not noticeably impact performance even on servers with multiple players.
What happens if a runner leaves the game?
The mod tracks based on team membership, so if a runner disconnects, hunters will no longer receive tracking data for that player. Rejoin the runners team to resume being tracked.
