Pasting Entity NBT (Mobs, Armor Stands, Item Frames) on a Server
Entities use /summon, not /setblock
Litematica handles block entities through /setblock and standalone entities through /summon. The Server Paster mod appends NBT to both, so a properly configured setup will paste named mobs, equipped armor stands, decorated item frames, and similar entities with their full data intact.
Prerequisites
- Mod installed on client and server.
- Litematica config:
commandUseWorldEdit=false. - Litematica config:
pasteNbtRestoreBehavior=None. - You have permission to run
/summonon the server (operator or equivalent).
Steps
1. Load the schematic containing the entities into a placement.
2. Align the placement region with the target area.
3. Trigger the paste. Litematica will iterate blocks and entities, sending /setblock for blocks and /summon for entities.
4. Check chat for errors — a permission failure on /summon will silently drop entities even if blocks paste fine.
Common pitfalls
- Entities outside the placement's bounding box are ignored; expand the region if needed.
- If an entity already exists at the target position, the summon may fail or stack depending on server rules.
- Very large entity counts can hit server command rate limits; paste in smaller sections if the server throttles.
