Keeping Your Fallback Rules From Breaking Other Mods
Understanding the Hook
Language Amend works client-side and hooks into Minecraft's language loading. It appends fallback languages after your selected language rather than replacing anything, so other mods and resource packs continue to load normally. Problems usually come from malformed config, not from conflicts.
Safe Editing Practices
Always close Minecraft before editing config/lang_amend/lang_amend.json. Use a plain text editor, not a word processor, to avoid smart quotes. Keep the JSON valid: every key and string in double quotes, commas between entries, no comma after the last item. If you are unsure, make a backup copy of the file before changing it.
Recovering From a Bad Config
If the game ignores your rules or logs errors about the config, revert to your backup or delete the file and let the mod regenerate it on next launch. Then re-add rules one at a time, testing after each restart, so you can identify which entry caused the issue. Because the mod avoids duplicate language entries and preserves original order, a correct config will not disturb languages you did not mention. If a specific mod still shows default text, that string simply is not present in any of your fallback languages.
