How to Set Up a Fallback Language Chain in Language Amend

Finding and Opening the Config

Language Amend reads its rules from config/lang_amend/lang_amend.json. Launch the game once with the mod installed so the file is generated, then close it. Open the JSON in any plain text editor. You will see a structure that maps a source language code to one or more fallback language codes.

Writing a Fallback Rule

Each entry follows the pattern of a key (the language the game is currently set to) pointing to a list of languages to try when a translation is missing. For example, if you play in a regional variant and want it to fall back to a broader language and then to another, you list those codes in the order you want them checked. Order matters: the mod appends them in the sequence you write, so put your most preferred fallback first.

Applying and Testing

Save the file and restart Minecraft. Set your game language to the code you configured, then open a screen that normally shows untranslated text from a resource pack or mod. If a string is missing in your primary language, it should now appear in the first fallback that has it. If nothing changes, re-check that your language codes are spelled exactly as Minecraft uses them and that the JSON has no trailing commas or missing brackets.
