Fleeing Animals Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to configure anything when I first install this mod?
No configuration is required—the mod works immediately after installation with default settings that enable fleeing behavior for most passive mobs. If you want to exclude specific mobs or adjust behavior, you can edit the mod's configuration file, but it's optional.
How do I stop certain mobs from fleeing?
You can exclude specific mobs from the fleeing mechanic by editing the mod's configuration file and adding them to the exclusion list. Horses are excluded by default, and you can add others like llamas or other mobs you want to keep stationary.
Will this mod affect my mob farm or breeding setup?
Yes—if you attack one mob in a farm, nearby mobs will flee and scatter, making collection difficult. To avoid triggering panic, use suffocation damage, fall damage, or other indirect damage methods instead of hitting mobs directly, or exclude your farm mobs from the mod's configuration.
How far away do mobs detect that one of their group is being attacked?
The mod uses a detection range to determine which nearby mobs should flee; the exact distance depends on your configuration settings. You can adjust this range in the config file to make mobs more or less aware of distant threats.
Does this mod change how fast mobs run or how much health they have?
No—the mod only affects behavior and does not alter mob stats, speed, health, or damage. It purely adds the fleeing reaction without changing any other mob properties.
Can I make only certain mobs flee while others ignore attacks?
Yes, you can configure which mobs participate in group fleeing by editing the mod's configuration file to create a whitelist or blacklist of mobs. This lets you customize behavior per mob type.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
The mod is designed to be lightweight and should have minimal performance impact. If you experience lag, check that you don't have an unusually large number of passive mobs in one area, or reduce the fleeing detection range in the config.
Does this mod work with other animal behavior mods?
Compatibility depends on whether other mods also modify passive mob AI; conflicts are possible but unlikely with most behavior mods. Test with your other mods installed, and if issues occur, check mod documentation or community forums for known incompatibilities.
Why are my horses not fleeing when I attack them?
Horses are excluded from the fleeing mechanic by default in this mod. If you want horses to flee, you can remove them from the exclusion list in the configuration file.
Can I disable this mod for specific dimensions or worlds?
The mod applies globally to all dimensions by default, but you can disable it entirely by removing the mod or checking if your configuration file supports per-dimension settings. Some modpacks may include configuration options for this—check your specific setup.
