Making Your Custom Menu Background Look Good and Readable
Choosing the Right Image
Because the main menu draws its logo, buttons, and text directly over your image, contrast matters more than raw quality. Pick an image with a calmer area where the menu elements sit, or one that is naturally darker. Very light images wash out white text, while extremely detailed images make buttons hard to spot. Screenshots taken at night, in caves, or of a scenic horizon often work better than bright daytime shots.
Adjusting Before You Import
You can edit your image in any image editor before renaming it. Slightly darkening the whole image, or adding a subtle dark gradient toward the center, keeps the menu readable while preserving your picture. Match the aspect ratio of your screen so the image is not stretched or cropped awkwardly; a widescreen ratio suits most monitors. Save as PNG to avoid compression
artifacts. Once edited, rename it to panorama_overlay.png, drop it into assets / minecraft / textures / gui / title / background inside the pack zip, overwrite the old file, and reapply the pack. Test by returning to the main menu and checking that every button label is still easy to read.
