How to Use Reach Entity Attributes to Change Player and Mob Reach Distance
What reach attributes control
Reach Entity Attributes adds reach-related attributes that other mods and datapacks can modify. This affects how far a player can break blocks, attack entities, and interact with blocks, and it can also apply to mobs.
Applying reach changes
1. Reach is exposed as an attribute, so the normal ways of modifying attributes apply: commands, attribute-modifying items, or datapack attribute modifiers.
2. Use the attribute command targeting the reach attribute on yourself or another entity. The exact attribute identifier depends on how the mod registers it, so check the attribute list in-game before typing a command.
3. Attribute modifiers stack additively from multiple sources. If reach feels wrong, remove modifiers one at a time to find the source rather than assuming the mod is broken.
4. For mobs, apply the same attribute to the mob entity. This is useful for custom mobs that need longer attack range than vanilla allows.
5. Remember that reach affects both block breaking and entity attacking, and some mods read only one of those. A change that seems to do nothing may only be affecting the other category.
Test changes in a creative world first, since an unintended reach value can make normal play feel strange.
