Connector Extras Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
What does Connector Extras actually do for me?
It's a companion add-on for Connector that bridges Forge-style APIs and third-party mods to NeoForge/Fabric, so Forge mods relying on energy, config, reach attributes, or plugin platforms work correctly. You install it alongside Connector; you don't interact with it directly in-game.
Do I need to install every submodule or just some?
Install only the submodules that match the mods you're running — for example, the REI/EMI/JEI plugin bridges only matter if you use those recipe viewers, and the Terrablender or Geckolib bridges only matter if those mods are present. Extra submodules that have no matching mod are usually harmless but add load time.
How do I know which submodule is causing a crash?
Read the crash log's stack trace and look for the Connector Extras package name tied to a specific integration (energy, config, REI, EMI, JEI, etc.). Disable that one submodule, relaunch, and confirm the crash disappears before re-enabling it.
Why are my Forge machines not receiving or outputting energy?
Forge energy needs the Team Reborn Energy API Bridge submodule so Forge-style energy handlers can talk to the Fabric/NeoForge energy system. Make sure the bridge is installed and that the machine's energy block is actually being ticked — a machine that never runs won't move energy.
My REI/EMI/JEI shows no recipes for some mods — what's wrong?
The plugin platform bridge for your recipe viewer must be installed and the target mod must actually register its plugin through that platform. If the bridge is missing or the mod uses a different plugin system, recipes won't appear even though the items exist.
Can I change how far I can reach blocks and entities?
Yes — the Reach Entity Attributes submodule lets mods and datapacks modify player and mob reach distance through attributes rather than hardcoded values. You typically adjust this via a mod config or datapack that sets the reach attribute, not by editing Connector Extras itself.
Does Connector Extras replace Connector?
No. Connector is the core loader that lets Forge mods run on NeoForge/Fabric; Connector Extras is an optional add-on that adds API bridges and third-party integrations on top of it. You still need Connector installed.
Will Connector Extras hurt my performance?
The bridges themselves are lightweight, but each submodule adds a small amount of startup and class-loading overhead. If you're chasing FPS or load time, remove submodules whose target mods you don't actually use.
A Forge mod's config screen is missing or empty — how do I fix it?
Install the Forge Config API Port bridge submodule so Forge-style configs are exposed through the NeoForge/Fabric config system. Without it, the mod may load but its config UI won't appear in ModMenu or the mod list.
Do I need Connector Extras if I only play Fabric mods?
No. Connector Extras exists to bridge Forge APIs and Forge-oriented mods; if you're not running any Forge mods through Connector, none of its submodules will do anything for you.
