What the Ice Crate Does

The Ice Crate is your preservation block. Where a normal chest lets food rot, the Ice Crate slows or prevents spoilage so you can stockpile ingredients and finished dishes without racing the clock.

Setting It Up

1. Craft and place the Ice Crate.

2. Fill it with ice or a comparable coolant if the recipe requires it — check the block's own interface for what it accepts.

3. Load in the items you want to keep: cheeses, meats, soups, and prepared meals.

Practical Storage Habits

  • Keep raw ingredients in the Ice Crate and move only what you are about to cook to your working chest. This limits how much spoils if you get distracted.
  • Preserved goods such as Jerky, Kimchi, Pickled Pickles, and jams are already shelf-stable, so they do not need crate space. Save that room for perishables.
  • If you are preparing a large feast, stage finished dishes in the Ice Crate right up until serving.

Pairing With Other Blocks

The Ice Crate complements the Keg and Cask rather than replacing them. Kegs ferment, casks age, and the crate holds the results. Build your kitchen so all three sit near each other and you will spend far less time walking between stations.
