Boat Item View Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I open the Boat Item View Mod config?
Open the mod list from the main menu or pause screen and click the config button next to Boat Item View Mod. With Cloth Config and Mod Menu installed on Fabric, or Configured on Forge, this opens the in-game settings screen where all options live.
Why can't I see my item in my hand while the boat is moving?
The rendering toggle is probably off, or the item you're holding is filtered out by your item type settings. Check both the main enable option and the item restriction list in the config.
Does this mod let me actually use items while boating?
No. It only changes rendering, so your held item is visible but still cannot be used while the boat is moving. Using items mid-boat is vanilla server-side behavior that this mod does not touch.
Can I make only certain items show up in my hand while boating?
Yes, the config lets you define which types of items are rendered when sitting in a moving boat. Anything outside that selection stays hidden even when the main toggle is on.
Is Boat Item View Mod safe to use on servers?
It's client-side only and doesn't change vanilla server logic, so it won't give you an unfair advantage or trigger most anticheat checks. It only affects what you see on your own screen.
Do other players see my item when I'm in a moving boat?
No. The mod is purely client-side rendering, so only you see the held item. Other players still see the normal vanilla behavior.
Will this mod work without Cloth Config or Mod Menu?
The mod itself runs fine without them, but you'll have no in-game config screen to change settings. Installing Cloth Config and Mod Menu (Fabric) or Configured (Forge) is what gives you the GUI.
Does Boat Item View Mod hurt my FPS?
It only adds a small rendering step for your own hand item, so performance impact is negligible on typical setups. If you notice stutter, check whether other mods are conflicting rather than this one.
Why does my held item disappear again as soon as the boat stops or starts?
The mod only renders items while the boat is moving; when the boat is stationary, vanilla behavior takes over. This is intentional and matches how the base game handles hand rendering in boats.
Can I use this mod with other boat or rendering mods?
Generally yes, since it's client-side and only touches hand rendering in moving boats. If another mod also overrides boat hand rendering, one may take priority, so test them together and adjust configs if needed.
