Better Iron Recycling Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I start recycling iron items?
Place any iron item (like chains, rails, or iron bars) into a furnace with fuel, just as you would smelt ore. The furnace will output nuggets, ingots, or blocks depending on what you smelted.
What items can I recycle with this mod?
You can recycle chains, rails, iron bars, anvils, minecarts, buckets, and other iron-crafted items. Check the in-game furnace recipe book to see all recyclable items and their outputs.
Why did I only get nuggets instead of an ingot?
Items that require fewer than four ingots to craft return nuggets instead. Only items requiring four or more ingots return a full ingot when smelted.
Can I recycle damaged or low-durability tools?
Yes, damaged iron tools and gears smelt the same as undamaged ones—durability doesn't affect the output. This works for any iron tool, regardless of how worn it is.
How do I convert nuggets back into ingots?
Smelt nuggets in a furnace just like you would smelt ore; they'll combine into ingots following the standard crafting ratio.
Can I turn ingots into iron blocks?
No, this mod only recycles items down into smaller forms (blocks to ingots to nuggets). Use the regular crafting table to combine ingots into blocks.
Is it worth recycling low-value items like iron bars?
Iron bars return nuggets, so recycling is only worthwhile if you need nuggets for other recipes or if you have excess bars taking up space.
Does this mod work with modded iron items?
Compatibility depends on how the modded items are registered; check mod compatibility lists or test in-game. Most mods using standard iron item tags should work.
Will this mod slow down my game?
Better Iron Recycling Mod is lightweight and only adds furnace recipes, so it has minimal performance impact on most systems.
Can I disable recycling for specific items?
Check the mod's configuration file to see if it offers options to blacklist or disable recycling for certain items.
