Beautify Refabricated FAQ

20 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I get started with Beautify Refabricated?
Craft a Botanist Workbench first, since it's the core station for most of the mod's decorative items. From there you can branch into blinds, lattices, picture frames, lamps, and candelabras as you gather the matching wood types and materials.
What do I need to craft blinds?
Blinds are made per wood type, so you'll need the matching planks or wood materials plus a few common crafting ingredients. Check the recipe in JEI/REI once you have the Botanist Workbench, since each wood variant uses its own recipe.
How do blinds actually work as window coverings?
Place a blind in front of a window opening and interact with it to raise or lower the slats. They block light and sight lines when closed, and you can toggle them without breaking the block.
My blinds won't open or close — what am I doing wrong?
Make sure you're interacting with the correct face and that nothing is obstructing the block. Blinds also need to be placed on a valid surface; if they're floating or clipped into another block, they won't respond properly.
How do lattices differ from fences?
Lattices are decorative wall and fence panels that come in each wood type, so they match your build's palette instead of using the default fence look. They're meant for visual detail rather than heavy mob-blocking, so treat them as decoration first.
Can picture frames hold maps and paintings?
Yes — picture frames accept maps, paintings, and most items you'd want to display on a wall. Right-click with the item in hand to insert it, and right-click again to rotate or remove it.
How do I light a room with lamps and candelabras?
Candelabras come in many colors and act as decorative light sources, while lamps like the Bamboo Lamp, Glowstone Essence Lamp, and Light Bulb give you brighter or more modern options. Place them where they won't be hidden by other blocks so the light actually reaches the floor.
What is the Botanist Workbench used for?
It's the crafting station for the mod's plant-related and decorative recipes, including hanging pots and other foliage items. Pair it with Hanging Pots to add greenery to walls and ceilings.
Do I need to install anything else for Beautify Refabricated to work?
It's a Fabric mod, so you need the Fabric loader and the matching Fabric API for your game version. If recipes don't show up in JEI/REI, that's usually a sign the API or a dependency is missing.
Will Beautify Refabricated hurt my performance or break other mods?
It's a decoration mod, so the performance cost is mostly from having many decorative blocks loaded at once — large builds with hundreds of lattices or blinds can add up. It generally plays fine alongside other Fabric mods, but if you see conflicts, check for overlapping block IDs or recipe overhauls.
What does Beautify Refabricated add?
It is a client and serverside decoration mod that adds vanilla-styled blocks with custom models, such as hanging pots, blinds, picture frames, lattices, rope, candelabras, and light sources. Many of these blocks have extra features, like potted plants being duplicable with bone meal.
What Minecraft versions does Beautify Refabricated support?
The Modrinth project page lists Minecraft versions 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2, and 26.3. The project page also lists Fabric versions 1.18.2, 1.19, 1.19.1, and 1.19.2.
What mod loader does Beautify Refabricated use?
It is a Fabric mod. A NeoForge version exists separately as Beautify: ReFoxed.
Does Beautify Refabricated add new items and blocks?
Yes. It registers 56 items and blocks, including blinds, lattices, picture frames, candelabras, rope, hanging pots, bookstacks, light bulbs, a bamboo lantern, a glowstone essence lamp, and a botanist workbench.
How do you use hanging pots in Beautify Refabricated?
Hanging pots can stand like normal pots or hang from blocks, and they support all vanilla flowers including double-tall variants. Bone meal makes plants grow and droop if there is space below, and shears harvest parts of grown plants and reset them to their ungrown stage.
How do blinds work in Beautify Refabricated?
Blinds are connectable blocks available in all vanilla wood types and iron. Closing one blind closes nearby blinds in a set radius, default 6 blocks, and this behavior can be configured in settings.
How do you use rope in Beautify Refabricated?
Rope works similarly to chains, can be used to lower hanging pots, and is climbable from all four sides.
How do picture frames work in Beautify Refabricated?
Picture frames are available in all vanilla wood types and quartz. You switch motives by Shift + Right-clicking, and they include all 16x16 vanilla painting motives plus custom pixel art.
How do you use lattices in Beautify Refabricated?
Lattices can be placed on walls or ceilings and are climbable like ladders. Right-click to insert plants such as roses, vines, sunflowers, peonies, lilacs, or glow lichen, and plants do not spread on lattices.
Is there a botanist villager in Beautify Refabricated?
Yes. The Botanist is a new villager profession with its own house and the Botanist Workbench as its workstation. It trades decorative blocks such as hanging pots, lattices, dripleaves, and spore blossoms.
