Prevent Accidental Baby Mob Growth in a Breeding Farm

Protecting Specific Babies from Maturation

If you're running a breeding operation and want to keep certain offspring as babies while letting others grow normally, selective nametagging is your solution.

1. Set up your breeding farm with adult mobs separated into sections

2. Breed adults in one section to produce babies

3. Immediately after babies spawn, identify which ones you want to keep small

4. Nametag only those selected babies with any name of your choice

5. Leave other babies unnamed so they mature naturally

6. Separate the named babies into a different area to avoid confusion

Farm Organization

Keep your breeding sections clearly divided: one area for adults that will continue breeding, one for unnamed babies that will grow up, and one for named babies that stay small. This prevents accidentally nametagging the wrong mob. If you need to process a large number of babies, consider using a systematic naming scheme (like numbering them) to track which ones are permanent babies versus temporary ones awaiting growth.
