Babies Forever Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I stop a baby mob from growing up?
Use a nametag on any baby mob to give it a custom name. Once nametagged, that baby mob will never grow into an adult and will keep its baby appearance and size forever.
Can I make a baby mob grow up after I've named it?
Yes. Use another nametag to rename the mob to either "grow up" or "GROW_UP" (case doesn't matter). The mob will then resume its natural growth cycle and become an adult.
Do I need to do anything special to install this mod?
Install the mod into your mods folder like any other mod for your Minecraft version. No special setup or configuration is needed—it works automatically once loaded.
Will nametagged baby mobs despawn?
No. Nametagged mobs in Minecraft never despawn, so your baby mobs will stay permanently where you leave them.
Can I use this mod in a breeding farm?
Yes. You can nametagged baby mobs to keep them as babies while allowing other unnamed babies to grow into adults for farming purposes.
Does this mod work with all baby mobs?
The mod works with any mob that has a baby variant in Minecraft, including animals, hostile mobs, and any mobs added by other mods that follow standard breeding mechanics.
What happens if I rename a baby mob to something other than 'grow up'?
The baby mob will keep its custom name and remain a baby forever. Only the names "grow up" or "GROW_UP" trigger growth.
Can I have multiple baby mobs with the same name?
Yes. You can name multiple baby mobs the same thing, and each will independently stay as a baby.
Does this mod affect performance or cause lag?
The mod has minimal performance impact since it only changes the growth behavior of nametagged mobs without adding new blocks or complex systems.
Will my nametagged babies stay babies if I reload the world?
Yes. The nametag data is saved with the mob, so your baby mobs will remain babies when you reload your world or server.
