Frequently asked questions

How do I find the new cave biomes?
The five cave biomes generate randomly underground in the Overworld like vanilla caves. Mine downward or explore existing cave systems and look for distinctive biome features—each has unique blocks, mobs, and structures that make them recognizable once you encounter them.
What's the best level to start mining for cave biome ores?
Cave biome ores generate at various depths depending on the specific biome, but exploring between Y-level 0 and Y-level 64 gives you good chances of finding multiple biomes and their unique resources.
Do the cave biomes have special mobs I need to prepare for?
Yes—each biome spawns unique hostile mobs that don't appear in vanilla caves, so bring appropriate armor and weapons before descending deep. The guides on mob encounters cover what to expect and how to survive each biome's threats.
Can I use my old world or do I need a new one?
You can add this mod to an existing world and the new cave biomes will generate in unexplored chunks, but previously generated terrain won't have them. Starting a new world ensures you can find all five biomes more easily.
What should I bring when exploring a cave biome for the first time?
Bring a pickaxe, food, torches or lanterns, a sword, and a bed or respawn anchor—cave biomes have dangerous mobs and can be disorienting, so you'll want light sources and a way to set a spawn point.
Are there any blocks I shouldn't mine in the cave biomes?
Some cave biome blocks may have special properties or be part of structures—check the mining guide for details on which blocks are safe to harvest and which might trigger traps or spawn mobs.
Can I build a permanent base inside a cave biome?
Yes, the cave biomes have plenty of space and unique building materials; the base-building guide covers how to establish a safe outpost, deal with mob spawning, and use cave biome blocks for construction.
Does this mod work with other cave mods?
This mod may conflict with other mods that heavily modify cave generation, so test compatibility in a separate world first—combining multiple cave mods can cause overlapping terrain or crashes.
Why am I not seeing the new cave biomes?
Make sure the mod is properly loaded in your mod folder and NeoForge is installed correctly; try exploring further or creating a new world, since biomes only generate in chunks that haven't been created yet.
Are there any performance issues I should know about?
The mod adds new biomes and mobs which can impact performance on lower-end systems—if you experience lag, try reducing render distance or disabling other mods to isolate the issue.
