Combining Accelerated Rendering with Iris Shader Packs

The mod is built to work alongside Iris Shaders, but shader packs change how entities and items are drawn, so a few settings need attention to keep both working together.

Order of Operations

Install and configure Iris first, load your shader pack, and confirm the world renders normally without the acceleration mod's changes causing errors. Then enable entity acceleration. If the game crashes or entities disappear when the shader pack is active, disable entity acceleration and re-enable it category by category to find the conflict.

Settings That Matter

Shader packs that use their own vertex or geometry stages are the most likely to conflict. If your pack has an option for entity or hand rendering, try toggling it. Also try the force translucent acceleration option, since shader packs often rely on correct alpha handling for items and particles.

Diagnosing Problems

If you see black entities, missing shadows, or flickering, disable acceleration entirely and check whether the issue persists. If it disappears, the conflict is with acceleration, not the shader pack. Re-enable features one at a time. Keep in mind that some shader packs simply are not compatible with GPU-side vertex transformation, and in that case the safest choice is to run the shader pack without entity acceleration.
