Accelerated Rendering Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I know if Accelerated Rendering is actually working?
Open the in-game editor from the mod list or config screen and check that acceleration is enabled, then compare FPS in a crowded area with it toggled on and off. If your framerate doesn't change at all, the feature may be disabled or your GPU may not support the compute shaders it relies on.
Why did my FPS drop after installing Accelerated Rendering?
On some GPUs the compute shader overhead outweighs the CPU savings, especially in scenes with few entities. Try disabling acceleration for specific entity types or turning off the feature entirely to see if performance recovers.
Do I need to install anything on the server for this mod to work?
No, Accelerated Rendering is client-side only, so it works on any server you join without server-side installation. Other players won't see any difference and you won't be kicked for using it.
How do I open the in-game config editor?
Use the Mods list on the title screen or pause menu and click the config button next to Accelerated Rendering. Alternatively, edit the acceleratedrendering client toml file directly if you prefer manual changes.
Will this mod break my shader pack or Iris?
It's designed to be compatible with Iris and most shader packs, but some packs with custom entity rendering may conflict. If you see visual glitches, try disabling entity acceleration or the force translucent option while keeping the shader pack on.
My items look invisible or see-through in my hand — what's wrong?
This is usually caused by the force translucent acceleration option being enabled when it shouldn't be. Turn it off in the config, or enable it only if you're specifically seeing broken item rendering without it.
Which entities should I disable acceleration for?
Disable it for any entity that renders incorrectly, such as modded mobs with custom models, armor stands with complex setups, or entities from mods that hook into the render pipeline. Leave vanilla mobs and simple models accelerated for the best FPS gains.
Does Accelerated Rendering help in crowded areas like villages or mob farms?
Yes, that's exactly the scenario it targets — offloading vertex transformations to the GPU reduces CPU load when many entities are on screen. Pair it with a reasonable entity render distance for the biggest gains.
Can I use this with other performance mods like Sodium or OptiFine?
What does the force translucent acceleration option actually do?
It forces the accelerated rendering path to also handle translucent geometry, which fixes some item and block rendering issues but can cause visual
artifacts with certain models. Only enable it if you're seeing missing or incorrectly rendered translucent items.
