How to Make Vanilla Items Look 3D Without Changing Gameplay
The 3D Default Resource Pack is purely visual. It does not add new blocks, items, or recipes, and it does not change hitboxes, collision, or any server-side behavior. Your goal when using it is simply to confirm the pack is active and that the affected models are rendering.
Confirm the pack is loaded
Open Options, then Resource Packs, and make sure 3D Default sits in the Selected list on the right, above the default pack. If it is only in Available, click its arrow to move it across. Order matters: a pack placed below another pack that also edits the same models will be overridden.
Check the models in-world
Place a Rail, Powered Rail, Activator Rail, or Detector Rail on the ground and look at it from a low angle. In vanilla these are flat textures; with the pack they gain depth. Do the same with a Bookshelf, a Potion, a Honey Bottle, and Dragon's Breath. If a model still looks flat, another resource pack is likely overriding that file, so move 3D Default higher in the list.
Keep gameplay untouched
Because nothing mechanical changes, you can add or remove the pack on an existing world at any time. Redstone behavior, brewing results, and rail physics stay exactly as vanilla. If you play on a server, the pack only needs to be installed on your own client to see the models.
