How to Survive a Leader Zombie Fight Without Getting Swarmed

Before the Fight

Prepare for the reinforcement mechanic, not just the leader itself. Carry a shield, a strong weapon, and blocks you can place instantly to cut off spawn surfaces. Fight in daylight or in a well-lit area where possible, and avoid fighting near caves, dark corners, or unlit roofs where reinforcements can appear behind you.

During the Fight

Target the leader first if you can reach it safely, since it is the buffed threat and the source of the aura and name tag. Watch for the reinforcement sound, the block-breaking noise repeated five times quickly, and reposition the moment you hear it. Place blocks to seal the direction the sound came from, then deal with the new arrivals one at a time.

If the swarm grows too large, retreat to a choke point such as a doorway or a one-block gap and let them come to you. Do not stand in the open, because reinforcements spawn near the caller and can easily flank you. If you are losing, break line of sight, eat, and reset the fight rather than trading hits in a crowd.

After the fight, light up the area so future leaders and their helpers have fewer places to spawn.
