Zombie Improvements Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I know which zombie is the leader?
Leader zombies have a glowing red aura, a larger body, unique textures, and a "Leader" prefix on their name tag. They also play special sounds, so you can identify them even in a dense crowd.
Why is there a red glow around one zombie in the group?
That glow marks the leader zombie, similar to how a charged creeper looks. It is a visual cue added by the mod so you can pick out the boss of the group instantly.
What does the reinforcement sound mean?
When a zombie calls for backup, you will hear the sound of the block the new zombie spawns on breaking five times in quick succession. That sound is your warning that extra zombies are about to appear.
How do I stop zombies from calling reinforcements?
Open the mod's configuration and look for the option that controls who can call for help. You can set it so only leader zombies are allowed to call reinforcements, which cuts down on constant swarms.
How do I change how much damage leader zombies deal?
In the mod's config file, find the damage setting for leader zombies and adjust it to your liking. The change applies to leader zombies specifically, not regular ones.
How do I make leader zombies spawn more or less often?
The config includes a spawn chance option for leader zombies. Raise it to see leaders more frequently, or lower it if you want them to be a rare encounter.
Do I need to install anything else for this mod to work?
No, the mod works on its own and only changes zombie leader and reinforcement behavior. Just make sure it matches your game version and mod loader.
Will this mod conflict with other zombie or mob mods?
It can conflict with mods that also change zombie AI, reinforcement mechanics, or mob textures, since both may try to control the same behavior. If you notice odd zombie behavior, test with only this mod enabled to isolate the issue.
Does this mod hurt performance?
The changes are lightweight, mostly visual effects and sound triggers, so performance impact is minimal. If you run many mob-heavy mods together, that combination is more likely to affect performance than this mod alone.
I changed the config but nothing happened, what did I do wrong?
Config changes usually require a game restart or reload to take effect, so make sure you saved the file and restarted. Also confirm you edited the correct config file for your mod loader and game version.
