How do I turn on the Zombie Apocalypse plugin for my server?
The plugin activates automatically when installed on your server. Use /za info to confirm it's running and check the current apocalypse status, then configure your server settings to adjust difficulty and spawn rates if needed.
What's the difference between normal zombies and the mutant types?
Mutant zombies have specialized abilities: Tanks are slow but durable, Chargers sprint at you, Assassins turn invisible, Blight zombies poison areas, Bursters explode when close, Spitters throw poison from range, and Frost zombies slow your movement. Each requires different combat strategies.
Why do zombies keep finding me even when I hide?
Zombies remember the last location where they saw you and continue moving toward that spot. They also track noise from running, block-breaking, bows, and explosions, so staying silent and moving away from your last known position helps you escape.
Can I spawn zombies manually or do they only spawn naturally?
Use /za spawn to manually spawn custom zombies at your location. Natural spawns still occur based on the apocalypse progression, but manual spawning lets you practice combat or set up specific encounters.
What should I do if a whole horde surrounds me during a fight?
Keep moving constantly because zombies try to encircle you—staying still makes you an easy target. Break line-of-sight by running into buildings or terrain, and use the noise-tracking mechanic against them by leading the horde away from your base.
How do I prepare for a Blood Moon event?
Blood Moon nights increase spawn rates and zombie difficulty significantly. Stock up on food and weapons beforehand, stay indoors or in a well-defended base, and avoid making noise outside since the horde will be more aggressive and numerous.
Do the zombies get harder as time goes on?
Yes, the horde grows stronger over time as days pass. This means later nights are more dangerous, so you need better gear, stronger defenses, and improved survival strategies the longer you play.
Why are my farm animals running away from me?
Animals flee from infected players, which is a sign that you've been exposed to the zombie infection or horde. This is a visual indicator that the apocalypse is affecting the world around you.
Can trapped zombies break through my base walls?
Trapped zombies will attempt to break weak blocks to reach you, and if they can't, they'll pathfind around obstacles. Build your base with strong blocks and ensure there are no easy routes for zombies to exploit.
What's the best way to gather resources without attracting zombies?
Walk or sneak instead of running, avoid breaking blocks unnecessarily, and don't use bows or cause explosions near your location. Gather during early game before the horde becomes too strong, and work quickly in quiet areas away from known zombie territories.
