How to Use FreeCam Without Moving Your Player

Detach the Camera, Not the Body

When you press the FreeCam key (F6 by default), your camera leaves your player behind. Your character stays exactly where it was standing, still subject to gravity, mobs, and block collisions. This is the key difference from spectator mode: you are not teleporting, you are only moving your viewpoint.

Practical Steps

1. Stand somewhere safe before activating FreeCam. If you leave your character on a cliff edge or in a mob spawner, it will stay there while you fly around.

2. Press F6 to detach. Fly with your normal movement keys. You can pass through blocks and terrain freely.

3. Watch your player's position on screen or in the world. If you fly far away, remember your body is still back at the activation point.

4. Press F6 again to snap the camera back to your player's eyes.

Why This Matters

Because your player does not move, you can scout ahead, check for lava, or film a build from above without risking your character. If you need your player to actually travel, you must exit FreeCam and walk normally. Treat FreeCam as a camera drone, not a teleport.
