How to Create Smooth Camera Paths for Cinematic Shots
Building a Path with Commands
This mod supports scripted
camera paths so you can record flythroughs, time-lapses, or cinematic intros. You add waypoints with a command, then play the path back while the
camera moves smoothly between them.
Step-by-Step
1. Enter
FreeCam mode and fly to the first position you want the
camera to start at.
2. Use the path command to add a point. The syntax is .freecam path add followed by a duration value, for example .freecam path add 1000. The number controls how long the
camera takes to travel to that point, so larger values mean slower, smoother motion.
3. Fly to the next position and add another point the same way. Repeat for every waypoint in your shot.
4. Adjust motion feel with .freecam speed to change how fast the
camera travels and .freecam acc to change acceleration, which softens starts and stops.
5. Play the path back and record with your screen recorder. If a segment feels jerky, increase its duration or lower the speed.
Tips
Add more points for complex routes. Keep durations consistent for a steady glide, or vary them to create slow reveals and quick pans.
