How to Use Bridges as Bases, Routes, and Landmarks
Why Bridges Are Useful
Natural bridges aren't just scenery — they're free infrastructure. A bridge spanning a ravine or river gives you a safe crossing without building anything, and its elevated deck makes an excellent vantage point. Many players repurpose them as outposts, mob-farming platforms, or waypoints on long journeys.
Turning a Bridge Into a Base
1. Pick a bridge in a biome you like, ideally near resources or a village.
2. Clear any hostile mobs on and under the deck, then light the area with torches or lanterns.
3. Build a small shelter on the widest part of the deck, or carve rooms into the support pillars if the bridge has them.
4. Add a bed, chests, and a crafting area. Because bridges are elevated, they're naturally safer from ground mobs.
5. Use the bridge as a chokepoint — mobs pathing across it are easy to fight or funnel into a trap.
Using Bridges as Routes and Landmarks
- Map every bridge you find. They make reliable navigation markers because they're visually distinct.
- Connect bridges with paths or rails to create a fast travel network across rivers and canyons.
- Build a small marker (a banner, a torch tower) at each bridge so you can spot it from a distance.
- If a bridge crosses a ravine, check underneath — ravines often expose ores and caves worth mining.
Treat each bridge as a ready-made piece of infrastructure and you'll get far more value from the mod than sightseeing alone.
