How to Prepare for a Better Nether Fortress Run
Because the fortresses are much larger than vanilla, a single trip can take a long time. Preparing properly means fewer deaths and fewer return journeys.
What to bring
- Armor and weapons: good protection plus a strong sword and bow. Blazes punish melee-only players.
- Fire resistance potions: several, since the Lava Halls and blazes both burn you.
- Blocks: a large stack for bridging and for marking your route.
- Food and golden apples: long runs drain hunger and health fast.
- Ender chest: lets you bank rare loot without walking all the way back.
- Torches or light sources: the Keep and Lava Halls are dark and full of spawns.
Set up a base nearby
Build a small safe room near your entry point with a chest, a crafting table, and a respawn anchor. This gives you a place to dump loot and recover between pushes into the Keep and Lava Halls.
Plan your exit
Before going deep, note landmarks so you can find your way out. The complex layout makes it easy to get turned around. If you are playing with others, split the sections so one person handles bridges while another pushes the Keep, then regroup before the Lava Halls.
