How to Set Up Default Options So New Worlds Start With Your Preferred Settings

Understand What the Mod Does

Your Options Shall Be Respected works by keeping a copy of your preferred options files in a known location. When the game starts and an options file is missing (for example, after a fresh install or a deleted config), the mod copies your saved version into place instead of letting Minecraft generate a blank one. This means your first step is always to produce a good options file, then let the mod preserve it.

Configure Your Options First

1. Launch the game normally and open the Options menu.

2. Set everything the way you want it: graphics, render distance, GUI scale, sound, controls, language, and any accessibility settings.

3. Close the game so the options file is written to disk.

4. Locate the mod's default-options folder (usually alongside the game's config directory) and place your saved options file there, matching the filename the mod expects.

5. Delete or rename the live options file in your game directory to test.

6. Start the game again. If your settings appear instead of defaults, the mod is working.

Repeat for Other Configs

Do the same for any mod config files you care about. Configure them in-game or by editing them, then store copies in the mod's defaults folder. From then on, a missing config is replaced with your version rather than a fresh one.
