Mining and Finding Caves Effectively

Cave System Layout

Caves exist within XXS World Map's compressed terrain, but they're proportionally smaller and closer to the surface. You won't need to dig as deep to find cave systems. Start mining downward from ground level, and you'll encounter caves much sooner than in vanilla Minecraft.

Mining Strategy

Use strip mining or branch mining techniques, but adjust your expectations for depth. Valuable ores like diamonds and emeralds still spawn at their normal Y-levels, but the smaller map means fewer total ore deposits exist. Focus your mining efforts on these specific depths rather than mining randomly.

Exploring Natural Caves

When you discover a cave entrance, explore it thoroughly—the compressed map means cave systems won't extend as far, making them easier to fully map and clear. Bring adequate lighting and combat gear, as hostile mobs still spawn in dark areas. The confined cave spaces may actually make navigation and mob management easier than in larger caves.
