How to Use the Minimap to Navigate Back to Your Base or Death Location

Navigating With Waypoints

Once you've placed a waypoint at your base (press B while there), it shows on the minimap and in-world as a marker. As you roam, the marker stays fixed at those coordinates, and the minimap shows your position relative to it. Simply head toward the marker to return home. If you enabled teleporting, you can jump to it directly from the waypoint list (press U).

Recovering Your Items After Dying

When you die, the mod automatically creates a deathpoint at the spot where you fell. Open your waypoint list with U to see it, then navigate back toward it using the minimap. Because the deathpoint is a real waypoint, it stays visible until you delete it — so even if you die again on the way, the original marker remains.

Tips for Long Journeys

  • Drop waypoints at landmarks along a long route (a village, a ravine entrance, a distinctive mountain) so you can retrace your steps.
  • Use different colors or icons for different kinds of locations — home, mining site, portal — so you can identify them instantly on the map.
  • If you're underground, rely on the cave view to follow tunnels back toward the surface exit you marked earlier.

Cleaning Up

After recovering your items, open the list and delete the deathpoint so it doesn't clutter your map. Keep only the waypoints you still need.
