Xaero’s Map Server Utils Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn on fair-play mode for my server?
Run /function xaero:fairxaero from the server console or as an operator. This disables cave mode and entity radar for all players using Xaero's mods.
How do I completely disable the minimap for everyone?
Run /function xaero:nominimap. This turns off the minimap entirely, and players can't re-enable it through their client settings.
How do I hide the system messages players see when I run these commands?
Add silent/ before the function name, like /function xaero:silent/fairxaero. The restriction still applies, but players won't see the chat notification.
Can players bypass the restrictions by changing their client settings?
No. The mod enforces
restrictions server-side, so client-side toggles in Xaero's Minimap or World Map won't override them.

Run /function xaero:xaerowmnetherisfair. This enables cave mode for the Nether dimension while keeping the minimap
restrictions in place elsewhere.

Run /function xaero:resetxaero. This clears the flags that track which system messages have already been shown to players.
Do players need the mod installed for the restrictions to work?
No. The mod runs on the server side and enforces
restrictions on players using Xaero's map mods, regardless of whether they have this utility mod installed.

Fairxaero disables cave mode and entity radar but keeps the minimap visible. nominimap disables the minimap completely.
Why do players still see the minimap after I run nominimap?
Make sure the command ran without errors and that you're using the correct function name. Players may need to relog or change dimensions for the change to fully apply.
Does this mod affect performance or cause lag?
No. It only sends restriction flags to clients and doesn't run continuous checks, so it has negligible impact on server performance.
