How to Open, Pan and Zoom Xaero's World Map
Opening the map
Press the map key (default M) to open the fullscreen world map. Press it again, or press Escape, to close it. The map is self-writing: as you explore, chunks you have visited are drawn automatically, so an empty map simply means you have not been there yet.
Moving around
Once open, the map behaves like a web map:
- Drag with the mouse to pan across the world.
- Scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.
- Use the on-screen buttons for quick zoom steps if you prefer clicking.
Zooming out far enough shows your whole explored region; zooming in reveals terrain detail, waypoints and your own position marker. Your player arrow always shows where you are and which way you are facing.
Handy habits
- If the map feels stuck on an old view, close and reopen it — it re-centres on you.
- Panning does not load new terrain; only actually travelling there fills in the map.
- Because each world, dimension and server keeps its own map, do not panic if your singleplayer map looks blank when you join a server. That is expected behaviour, not a bug.
